VIP Tires & Service

Challenge

VIP Tires & Service is New England’s largest private auto service and tire chain, supporting 56 stores in 3 states, and they approached Portland Webworks in early 2013 to develop a new web presence that would allow them to compete with both local “brick and mortar” retailers as well as established online retailers.

Solution

Their new site development project represents one of the most complex Drupal projects we have handled to date. Apache Solr was incorporated to support the sites rich Tire Fit Guide, which parses several external data sources to deliver accurate information regarding tire/vehicle match and available inventory. The Tire Fit Guide will also provide the ability for users to purchase tires directly online for shipment, expanding VIP’s reach beyond their current retail footprint. In addition, the site also includes a comprehensive Service Estimate Request tool and Store Locator, all within a responsive design, to provide a truly versatile tool for potential VIP customers.

Result

The new site, launched in March 2014, has delivered on VIP’s mission to provide a market-leading web experience to prospective customers. This includes significant improvements in selecting and reviewing tire options as well as a streamlined service estimate process, leading to a dramatic increase in inquiries of all types generated by the site.
