Lockheed Martin’s Aegis Test Team, based at Bath Iron Works, was challenged with the hand-off of critical data between engineers and other team members, and ensuring effective documentation of business critical information. Although a set of MS Access based applications existed for sharing information, these were being out grown, and becoming increasingly unstable.
Portland Webworks has migrated data from a series of non-secure legacy applications to a suite of secure, J2EE application that includes a convenient, standards-compliant web interface. This also include OpenCMS integration to provide easy and secure centralized user and content management. All of these tools were integrated with the existing Microsoft SQL data tier, using stored procedures. Given the nature of the work, Portland Webworks secured Department of Defense clearance, and ensured absolute confidentiality throughout every aspect of the project.
The final suite of tools have greatly increased efficiency and data security for the Aegis Test Team, which has lead to an on-going support relationship between LMCO and Portland Webworks as the Aegis-class ships continue production and modernization in Bath.
