Portland Webworks was recently selected by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare to help develop a public facing benefits eligibility system in support of the state’s Medicaid Readiness Initiative. The anticipated result will be to provide Idaho citizens with improved access to available benefits, while meeting new federal requirements, and reducing the workload of eligibility management on department staff. Portland Webworks was selected for this project because of the company’s deep working knowledge of the technologies involved in the project, particularly Liferay portal, which is a powerful, open-source portal that forms a cornerstone of this project. Portland Webworks brings more than a decade of experience developing web applications for the public sector, with extensive experience of the security, accessibility and usability concerns that arise when providing public access to critical information such as eligibility status. The initial phase of the project will see the Portland Webworks team assist the department’s own IT team in launching an initial site by the end of 2012, with additional refinement expected in the first quarter of 2013 as Idaho state government works to provide real time eligibility checks to citizens in order to meet federal requirements and maintain federal match rates.
